How to use the fence area calculator?

Please follow this short set of instructions to get your answer!

  1. Start by selecting the type of fence you want to calculate the area for. Choose whether it's a rectangular or circular fence. The default option is rectangular, but you have a variety of fence shapes to choose from. Click the button to see a drop-down menu of fence types.
  2. Pick the shape of the fence. You can choose from:
  • Rectangular fence – enter the length and height of the fence.
  • Circular fence – enter the radius of the circular fence.
  • Other – if you have a more complex fence shape (e.g., semicircular, trapezoidal), select this option to proceed with custom dimensions.

Depending on the shape, we will ask you to fill in the necessary information to calculate the area. For example, for a rectangular fence, we will need to know the length and height, and for a circular fence, we will ask for the radius. If you select other shapes, additional measurements might be required.

How to calculate fence area?

Although our fence area calculator might seem complex at first, it is based on a very simple formula. Calculating the area of a fence boils down to the basic area equation:

area = length × height (for rectangular fences)

Or, if you're working with a circular fence:

area = π × radius² (for circular fences)

For the final calculation, you multiply the area by the number of fence sections, so the formula becomes:

total area = area × number of sections
